Mind your own Fashion Business - Fashion Designer Claire O Connor

Claire O'Connor's installation at D-light studios was in support of fellow fashion designer Sylwia Kaminska and an event organized by her friends as a fundraiser entitled "Mind your own Fashion Business" which took place in D-Light studio's on 15-December 2011. Designers, models, hairdressers, make-up artists, stylists etc gave up their night free of charge to offer makeovers and fashion tips to the general public. The night was as much about raising awareness to how difficult the fashion industry is as it was about fundraising. So in keeping with the theme Claire O'Connor's installation depicted a homeless scene. The spring/summer 2012 collection was tossed about the set while four models wore some of the avant-garde pieces, which included a beautiful chiffon dress with a leather bodice. In the centre was the designer herself, looking pretty disheveled wrapped in a blanket, equipped with a paper cup and sitting on a floor of cardboard, some dress patterns, a copy of Italian Vogue and a sheet of cardboard with a personal message to one of the most influential people in the industry that read: 'STEVEN MEISEL, PLEASE HELP ME, I DONT DRINK, DONT SMOKE, DONT TAKE DRUGS, I JUST WANT TO BE A FASHION DESIGNER. THANK YOU. GOD BLESS. CLAIRE O CONNOR'

Queen's Historic Visit to The Rock of Cashel

The Queen led her entourage on the brief walk across a grassy pocket of the Golden Vale near Hore Abbey and then travelled by car the short distance to the limestone outcrop known as the Rock where she was met by Brendan Howlin, Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.

She was shown a replica of a 12th century St Patrick's Cross before being led in to the cathedral accompanied by Minister of State Alan Kelly and Dr Eugene Keane, from the Office of Public Works. Inside the cathedral Aighleann O'Shaughnessy, senior conservation architect, spent a few minutes in the south transept describing the architectural features and the ongoing conservation.

"She was such a warm and responsive personality, she was clearly very interested, they both were," Ms O'Shaughnessy said afterwards. After being shown the restoration of ancient wall paintings, the royal couple stood for a few moments listening to the school choir.

I can take a variety of shots, some candid/unposed, others can be more formal of the bridal party and family groups. I provide you with a storybook record of your day from the preparation of the bride to the last dance.

Approximately 2 weeks before your wedding we get together to work out your personal 'action plan' for the big day, we will visit the church and reception venue and you will discuss potential photographs and assess the backgrounds available for your different pictures.This is a great way for to to get to know each other beforehand - if we are all relaxed and having fun - it really does show in the final photographs.

Identitiy Parade - U Magazine May 2011

Dublin based band "Identity Parade". Since its release in March 2010, Identity Parade's debut album has been working its way through the Irish music scene . Since coming together the band have vowed to reproduce content of work that define where they are as a creative force at that given moment & as of now they have no reason to sway from this path.

Having completed a successful Irish tour to coincide with the album release the band recently made their way across the UK & into Germany for a couple of shows throughout the months of April & May. Such was the reception that a Spring tour of both territories has been confirmed.

Kirsten Haugh, The only ROI Finalist for Top Model UK

Kirsten Haugh (18) beat thousands of other hopefuls to make it to the finals of the Top Model UK competition, which will see her battling it out to earn a once in a lifetime prize.

The winner of the prestigious competition will get to strut her stuff on the catwalk during London Fashion Week, as well as earning an international contract with agencies in London and Malta.

And statuesque Kirsten, who stands at 5ft11in, is hoping to tackle the competition and take home the coveted prize, which will also see her jetting off to Milan and Malta for two high end photoshoots.

This marks Kirsten's first time dipping her toe in the modelling pool after being scouted by a recruit for the competition.

Finalists for the Top Model UK competition are based on public votes, and Irish people can get behind Kirsten by visiting her Facebook page and find out details on how to vote.

Artemis is the second project for Leo Riberio and her very creative hair designs, again featuring Model Laura Graham of 1st options who is an amazingly talented model and great fun to work with .The set was very carefully thought out at the planning stages as we wanted to create something a bit different , Leos hair designs are so strong that the backdrop and set needed to bring the entire project together .This shoot follows on from our project "Escape" and both are entries for the Hairdressing Visionary Awards in February 2011 for Leo Riberio.We released a trailer for Artemis and can be viewed here at this link "Artemis" Trailer .

ARTEMIS was the great Olympian goddess of hunting, wilderness and wild animals. She was also a goddess of childbirth, and the protectress of the girl child up to the age of marriage. Her twin brother Apollo was similarly the protector of the boy child. Together the two gods were also bringers of sudden death and disease--Artemis targeted women and girls, and Apollon men and boys.

ESCAPE - This shoot was organized for Hair Designer, Leo Ribeiro.

We used a rare 1976 Toyota Celica for the "Escape" shoot its an entry for Leo Riberio Hair Sytlist into this years Visionary Awards and should gather some attention .The shoot was split into 2 as we had 2 completley different sets ,this shoot was called "Escape" and the second one is the eagerily awaitied "Artemis" which we have a feeling will raise some eyebrows .Escape was lightly based around the early Bond films .

Claire O Connor - Autumn/Winter 2010 "Couture" shoot

Our Couture shoot is Front Cover and editorial of "Life" magazine" in the Sunday Independent on Sunday 21st November 2010

A project we put together for the amazing designer Claire O Connor and her "Couture" collection , the theme was based in around the lord of the rings / Narnia films and on a fine day in august we created a autumn/winter set in a small wooded area in wicklow, our lighting crew arrived at 7am and starting to position the lighting in their rightful places and were then joined by our special effects team to complete the magical set we had watched grow from a drawing to reality .you know you have achieved something special when several crew at one stage had admitted their heart had stopped with what they were witnessing ,an excellent combination of the right lighting, real special effects and a very professional team, the results speak for themselves.

The interesting thing about this project was we had started planning a set indoors and had trees,props, dogs etc booked but a few days before hand we decided that this really would be best done outdoors and we could really push the boundaries with what we where chasing a decision we are delighted we made .check out the trail here "Couture"

Silk Fashion Shoot - fashion designer Caoimhe Keane

We had the pleasure of working with the designs of Caoimhe Keane again on our recent project `"Silk" modelled by Dimakatso Mogwaneng. We had created 3 sets for the project, a solid backdrop, a fabric back drop and a dressed set, it allowed us to experiment a little and give Dimakatso a better range of photos for her portfolio and also give Caoimhe the high end finished shots she would be using for her website and catalogue.

We released this teaser trailer "Silk" a few days after the shoot.

Did You Know :::::Silk is a natural protein fibre, some forms of which can be woven intotextiles. The best-known type of silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of themulberry silkworm Bombyx mori reared in captivity (sericulture). The shimmering appearance of silk is due to the triangular prism-like structure of the silk fibre, which allows silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles, thus producing different colors.
